It's simple.
The proceeds from the sale of 100 of our products goes directly to help an individual family
in four specific ways:
They receive training.
Trained technicians visit individual families participating in program (approximately 9 times). They provide instruction regarding health and sanitation practices, and the nutritional value of gardening. Once the family is up and running, they help to pioneer these practices by setting an example. As community members see the value in these life-saving practices, they too can sign up to participate in the Give Back movement at no cost.
A fuel efficient stove is installed in their home.
Replacing a family's cooking source -- an open fire, with a properly ventilated, efficient wood burning stove, dramatically alters the life of the people you help. This change reduces smoke inhalation in the home by 99%, and helps prevent young children from being burned by an open fire. It also reduces the impact on local forests, as a wood burning stove uses less wood wood, which saves an entire tree, per month, per family.
They receive a water purification system.
Most of the local people in Choulteca and the surrounding area suffer from stomach ailments like dysentery due to contaminated drinking water. These health issues are easily resolved when drinking water is purified. Families are taught how to use the purification systems, as well as how to prevent water from being contaminated.
They receive gardening supplies.
Once a family participating in the program has learned about the nutritional value of gardening, they receive seeds and proper fertilizer, and are taught how to start their own garden.
Pretty amazing huh?
The power of one, can make such a difference.
