Give Back Products is a humanitarian effort that began with a family from the United States that visited Choulteca Honduras. At the time, the community was suffering due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Mitch. Many of the local craftsmen in the area had been abandoned by industries that had provided business and opportunities. In order to help the people of Choulteca, a small factory in the area was purchased, and the artisans and master craftsmen were put to work creating products made from sustainable wood, including trees felled in hurricanes.
The majority of profits from the sale of Give Back Products remain in Central America and are used to further environmental and humanitarian efforts in that region. You can read more about that here.
Great effort is taken to keep marketing and business expenses within the United Sates to minimum. In fact, most people in the United States who help market and promote Give Back Products receive no compensation for their efforts, allowing for a greater charitable impact.
The Craftsmen.
Employment in the Give Back Products factory has changed lives for our craftsmen and their families. In addition to a wage that is fifty percent higher that what is required for the region, each worker also receives benefits, an uncommon practice in Honduras. One of these benefits is structured to confront generational poverty at the root -- all children of factory workers are required to attend school, with all of their uniform and material expenses being covered though employee benefits.
Better wages and better benefits are changing lives for our craftsmen and their families.
The Wood.
All of our products are hand crafted using wood sustainable harvest wood that has been certified as such by the Honduras government. Many of our products contain wood harvested from trees felled in hurricanes, like the jatoba wood used in our professional grade cutting blocks.
Each product you purchase though our online store saves two and a half trees from deforestation.
